About this course
Sharpen your improv skills in this immersive 8-week course focused on scene work, character development, and crafting compelling, long-form narratives — all through the dynamic lens of genre story-telling
Led by experienced improviser and teacher Greg Lavell, this course is designed for performers ready to move beyond the basics. Each week, you’ll dive into generous amounts of on-your-feet scene work, exploring how to build interesting characters, make strong emotional choices, and tell stories that captivate from beginning to end.
Using genres like Film Noir, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Westerns, you’ll learn how familiar tropes and archetypes can fuel bold, authentic performances — while developing a deeper understanding of narrative structure, pacing, and thematic resonance in long-form improvisation.
Prerequisites: This Level 2 course is suitable for those with some experience in theatre, comedy performance, or improvisation. If you’ve previously attended an improv course or have stage experience, you’re welcome to join. Please contact us with any questions.
